The Senate met at 11 a.m.
(Senator Tomblin, Mr. President, in the Chair.)
Prayer was offered by the Honorable Walt Helmick, a senator
from the fifteenth district.
Pending the reading of the Journal of Friday, March 17, 2006,
On motion of Senator Edgell, the Journal was approved and the
further reading thereof dispensed with.
The Senate proceeded to the third order of business.
A message from The Clerk of the House of Delegates announced
the passage by a vote of a majority of all the members elected to
the House of Delegates taken by yeas and nays, notwithstanding the
objections of the Governor, to take effect January 1, 2007,
of
Eng. Senate Bill No. 370, Creating personal property tax
exemption for certain property used exclusively in agriculture.
The Senate proceeded to the twelfth order of business.
Remarks were made by Senators Kessler and Sprouse.
Senator Bailey then moved that the Senate adjourn until tomorrow, Sunday, March 19, 2006, at 11 a.m.
The question being on the adoption of Senator Bailey's motion,
and on this question, Senator Bailey demanded the yeas and nays.
The roll being taken, the yeas were: Bailey, Boley, Bowman,
Caruth, Dempsey, Edgell, Facemyer, Fanning, Foster, Guills,
Helmick, Jenkins, Kessler, McCabe, Minard, Minear, Plymale,
Prezioso, Sharpe, Weeks, White and Tomblin (Mr. President)--22.
The nays were: Barnes, Harrison, Hunter, Love, McKenzie,
Oliverio, Sprouse, Unger and Yoder--9.
Absent: Chafin, Deem and Lanham--3.
So, a majority of those present and voting having voted in the
affirmative, the President declared Senator Bailey's motion had
prevailed.
In accordance with the foregoing motion, the Senate adjourned
until tomorrow, Sunday, March 19, 2006, at 11 a.m.
